Boothsville Baptist Church Leadership

Boothsville Baptist Church is blessed to have a Pastor who is truly dedicated to Christ and accomplishing His will. Following is a brief bio of our Pastor and his qualifications for ministry.

Orivlle G. Wright

Pastor

Pastor Orville G. Wright is a graduate of Monongah High School, Fairmont State University having earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education and Health Education. He also earned a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership Studies at West Virginia University and completed the Church Leader Clinic with the West Virginia Baptist Convention.

Orville married his high school sweetheart, Ruth Lepley Wright, June 30, 1972 and they are the proud parents of 2 children, Matthew and wife Francesca and Rebekah and Husband Austin (TJ) Getz III and two grandchildren, Abby and Austin IV.

Orville was licensed to Preach The Gospel at the Willow Tree Baptist Church October 3, 1984. He was called to pastor Hebron Baptist Church November 18, 1984, as was ordained as a Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ May 20, 1990. He served as pastor of the Hebron Baptist Church until he accepted the call to pastor Boothsville Baptist Church on October 1, 1991. He later accepted the call to pastor Coon’s Run Baptist Church (2006-2008) and the First Baptist Church of Grafton (2008-2020) prior to returning to pastor the Boothsville Baptist Church (March 15, 2020-current).

Orville also began his teaching tenure January 1977, as a teacher and coach at the West Virginia Industrial School for Boys in Pruntytown.

In   August   1978, he began serving in the same roles at Grafton High School.   Orville’s coaching   tenure includes assistant football, basketball, track, and head wrestling. He was awarded “Taylor County Teacher of the Year” (1994-1995), “Mountain Statesman Invitational Wrestling Tournament Outstanding Coach” (1984-1985), AA Region II Wrestling Coach of  the   Year” (1985) and was named an assistant coach of the North-South All Star Football Game (1985). Orville co-sponsored the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, served as departmental chair, dean of students, and retired as principal of Grafton High School in 2007 after 30 years of service.

He was also elected 9 consecutive 2-year terms (18 years) to the White Hall Town Council (1993-2011) and in 2014, he was elected to the Taylor County Commission, representing the Western District of the county and is currently serving his second 6-year term.
